Creative landscape is edited images of landscapes.
Thomas Lamadieu A french artist who manipulates photographs by utilising the spaces between buildings and elements of the landscape.
This image has been made by turning the landscape photo upside down, then editing a cartoon type image onto the photo. The tree has been used to create the mans hair.
I like this image because the buildings are upside-down, which makes it look different. I think there is good use of colour in this image. A large depth of field has been used with an aperture of around f22.
Doug Aitken An artist from California who uses photographs of the landscape in shapes which are sometimes tessellated and sometimes placed within large letter forms.
This image is of 4 different landscapes. They have been put together to make one image. I like this image because of the shapes that the rocks create. Natural lighting has been used. The image has lots of texture in it. Large and medium depth of field has been used. Aperture of around f22 has been used.
Randy Scott Slavin Photographer and aerial cinematographer, from New York City, who constructs 360 degree views of the landscape using careful combinations of images in his series ‘Alternative Perspectives’.
This image has been taken using a worms eye view. Looking up to the top of the buildings. I like how all the colours have been captured. I think a medium depth of field has been used. There is good Rule of Triangles.
Examples of creative landscape photography I found on the internet
I like the spiral effect in this image. I think it was created by using a very slow shutter speed.
I think this image is incredible and really like the pop of color. I like that they have used the same image, using different edits. I would like to recreate an image like this one.
My plan
1st shoot
My worst image because I captured some of the landscape but not the rest of it and too much sky.
My best image because I captured all of the landscape. I used a large depth of field and a fast shutter speed.
My edits from 1st shoot
My worst edit because I haven't achieved the look I wanted to create.
My best edit because I used a lot of layers to create the image. I then added a pop of color to make it eye catching.
2nd shoot
Taken in the schools grounds, using large depth of field.
This is my worst image because I have mostly got the sky in shot, missing out most of the landscape.
This is my best image because it is in focus, I have used a large depth of field and I have captured both the landscape and the sky in shot.
Edits from second shoot
My worst edit because its a bit messy and the eye doesn't know where to look
This is my best edit because I have the pop of color that I wanted and it is similar to the photo I found on the internet.
Example of how I have edited my image
I forgot to take screenshots while I was editing my photo. So I have done another quick edit, in the same way, to show how I done it.
Final edit - to create this image I edited one photo a few different ways, then merged them all together to make a single image. I really like this final edit, as it is in the same style as the one I wanted to create.
3rd shoot Taken at Lady Hayes
My worst image because it is over exposed making the image too bright.
My best image because I have used a large depth of field to capture landscape. The image is in focus. I like this image because it captures the openness of the countryside.
Edits from 3rd shoot
This is my worst image because the edit is not to the best of my ability.
This is my best image because I have made the photo look more interesting.
4th shoot Taken at Spike Island
This is my worst image because I missed the landscape, and just got the sky.
This is my best image because I used a large depth of field to capture the canal landscape at Spike Island. My image is in focus and the rule of triangles makes the image more interesting for the eye.
Edits from 4th shoot
final edit
For this edit I have, again, edited the same photo lots of different ways, then edited all the edits to create one image. This image has pops of color and some black and white. I have created the image I planned at the beginning of this project.
final outcome
first piece
second piece
For my final outcome, I have printed off my 2 favorite images, mounted them onto card, then cut the shapes out and mounted them onto plain white card. I like my final pieces because I have managed to recreate the image, that I found on the internet, in my own style.
collection of images
Evaluation From beginning to end, I enjoyed doing creative landscapes and editing. I like my final outcome as a whole image. I've been taking these photos at the school grounds, Spike Island and Lady Hayes, this is a good place to go in Christmas holidays. I have worked hard on this project, in addition, I improved on my writing skills. I think my strength in this project was my editing skills. My editing skills have improved a lot.
